Five Step Programme Summary

Step 1: Application

The first stage of the Counterpart Travels programme is application. Whether you are interested in a tailor-made position or one of our fixed positions, you must first fill out the same application form. See apply. If you have any questions you would like to ask us before you apply, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. See contact.

Step 2: Response

We will send you a proposal for a volunteer position, based on your application. If you prefer some other position, we continue looking for better options; if you do like our proposal, we arrange the details of your position with the organisation you will be working for.

Step 3: Payment

Only if you decide to accept the volunteer position we propose, we ask you to pay a one time fee of 200 euros to be paid in full before your leave. It is important that you ask all the questions you have about your placement before you make your decision because after you have made your payment, it is non-refundable. All proceeds of Counterpart Travels are used to start and support projects of the aid organisation SYPO.

Step 4: Practical information

Having accepted and paid for your placement, we will contine to help you with practical information about Uganda, travel advice, our recommendations on what to take with you and some tips about security once you have arrived. This will help you prepare for your time in Uganda.

Step 5: Arrival and volunteer work

We make sure that you are guided very well through your first days in Uganda. You can choose to be picked up from the airport, stay some days in Kampala with a tour around the city, and we make sure to show you around the town you will be working in, with particular emphasis given to essential knowledge, such as the location of the banks, internet access, embassies and shopping centres. We will make sure you meet everyone you need to work with, and are completely satisfied with your work and accommodation.
